About Me

Salutations all, my name is Jeffery Green and I am 21 years old and I am currently serving in the United States Navy. I have been in for almost three years come this June and I am stationed on in Maryland but I am originally from Georgia. I am currently pursing a Cyber security degree through the University of Arizona global campus and I am aspiring to eventually take the knowledge from the military and my degree in order to work for a cyber security company or if I enjoy the navy enough I plan on commissioning and becoming an officer to stay in and do my 20 year until I retire and then still try to join a cyber security company. I do not have a lot of experience in information technology field except for a class that I have previously taken but have a hard time remembering so I might as well be brand new to it. Even though I do not know much about it I am eager to learn and have an appetite for knowledge that can never be satisfied. All in all I hope we an excellent time in this class...

Programing Languages and Tech Connect

Cloud computing has emerged as a transformative force in the field of information technology (IT), providing scalable, on-demand access to computing resources over the internet. This final blog post delves into how cloud computing connects to the core principles of IT covered in this course, touching on its historical context, reliance on hardware, programming, software, databases, and network security. Connection to IT Fundamentals Cloud computing is deeply rooted in the fundamentals of IT, encompassing aspects such as computer architecture, networking, and software development. At its core, cloud computing leverages virtualization technology, which allows multiple virtual machines to run on a single physical machine, optimizing resource usage and providing scalability. This aligns with the fundamental IT concept of resource management and efficiency. Historical Context and Operation The concept of cloud computing is built on decades of advancements in computing and networking. T...

File and Memory Management

Optimizing Your Computer: Backup Strategies and Understanding RAM Hey everyone! Today, I want to talk about two important aspects of keeping your computer running smoothly: effective backup strategies and the crucial role of RAM in your system’s performance. Organizing and Backing Up Your Files Modern computer systems use a hierarchical directory structure to organize files. This means you have folders and subfolders to keep everything neat and easy to find. Files are stored in blocks on your hard drives and removable drives, with the file system ensuring data integrity and quick access. One essential aspect of managing your data is having a solid backup plan. Backups protect you from data loss due to hardware failures, accidental deletions, malware attacks, and other disasters. Imagine your hard drive crashes—without a backup, you could lose everything. Regular backups allow you to restore your data with minimal fuss. Here’s what my backup plan looks like: I use cloud storage se...

My Time With Scratchpad

Getting started with Scratch was a fantastic way for me to ease into programming. The drag-and-drop interface made it so much simpler to dive in without stressing about syntax errors. This was a huge relief compared to text-based coding, which can be tough to wrap your head around, especially with its complexities and the need to understand different coding languages. One of my first projects was a simple animation. This project was perfect for learning how to sequence actions and handle basic interactions. But as I tried to make my projects more complex, I began to face more challenges. Keeping track of all the different code blocks got tricky, and Scratch’s limitations became clear when I wanted to do more advanced things like handling complex data or implementing sophisticated algorithms. In the end, I decided to keep my animation simple but added more blocks to make it interesting. Despite these hurdles, using Scratch really pushed me to think creatively and work around its li...

Computers in Health Care

Hey everyone! Tonight, I want to talk about a topic that's both fascinating and incredibly important: how computers have become a vital part of healthcare. They've transformed how we care for patients and run medical facilities, making everything more efficient and effective. Electronic Health Records (EHRs) One of the biggest game-changers in healthcare is the use of Electronic Health Records (EHRs). These digital records make it super easy to access patient histories, medications, and treatment plans. Instead of sifting through piles of paper, doctors can quickly pull up a patient’s information, which helps them provide better and faster care. Advanced Imaging and Diagnostics Computers are also at the heart of modern imaging and diagnostic tools. Think about X-rays, MRIs, and CT scans – all these images are processed using advanced software that helps doctors get a clear and accurate picture of what's going on inside a patient’s body. This technology is crucial for early...

Mobile App Use: Clash of Clans

Image
I am going to review and talk about Clash of Clans  for this blog post Introduction Clash of Clans, developed by Supercell, has been a major hit in the mobile gaming world since its launch in 2012. This strategy game, which blends village building, resource management, and combat, has attracted millions of players worldwide. In this review, we'll dive into the game's usability, design, and functionality, pointing out what makes it great and where it could use some improvements. Usability Clash of Clans scores high on usability. The game kicks off with a helpful tutorial that walks new players through the basics of building structures, training troops, and attacking opponents. The interface is user-friendly, with clearly labeled buttons and icons that make navigation easy. You can seamlessly switch between managing your village, planning attacks, and checking your resources. However, the vast number of features can be a bit overwhelming for newcomers. A more gradual introducti...

Ping and Traceroute

Image
Good evening,  the use of ping and traceroute were really foreign to me before taking this class, I really only thought things like this could be done in super secret spy movies. It was definitely challenging for me since I could barely figure out how to look up an IP address for a website, but through a little bit of google searching and looking through the course text I figured out how find IP addresses of multiple websites. The two websites I used for this discussion post was from the United Kingdom and Canada   Home - Canada.ca Links to an external site.  and  Welcome to GOV.UK (www.gov.uk) Links to an external site. . Packets travel through a network by hopping from one router to another until they reach their destination. Each packet carries the source and destination IP addresses, which routers use to forward the packet along the best path. The ping command measures the round-trip time (RTT) by sending ICMP Echo Request messages and waiting for replies, while ...

Office Suite Applications

In today’s digital world, different software applications are essential for various tasks, each designed to meet specific needs. For example, word processors are great for creating, editing, and formatting text documents like essays, reports, and letters. They’re user-friendly and come with handy features like spell check and grammar tools, which improve the quality of documents and support collaborative work. However, they aren’t the best for handling large amounts of data or complex calculations, and their graphics capabilities are quite basic, making them less suitable for data-heavy projects.      Spreadsheets are powerful for organizing and analyzing data in tables. They’re perfect for tasks that require advanced calculations, data visualization through charts and graphs, and even automating repetitive tasks with macros. However, they can be intimidating for those who aren’t familiar with functions and formulas, and their complexity can be ...
